The main goal of COGNI-TEaCH was to improve the quality, inclusivity, and digital accessibility of teacher education by integrating cognitive coaching and needs-based pedagogies into higher education. The project aimed to: Develop an innovative curriculum – an open-access, multilingual course on cognitive and socio-emotional learning with video lessons and digital materials. Adapt diagnostic tools – translate and localize the Cognitive and Sensory-Motor Profile Test into six languages to support data-based teaching. Promote digital innovation – create an interactive e-learning and testing platform combining game-based learning and cognitive profiling. Foster inclusive education – equip teachers to address the needs of neurodiverse, multilingual, and vulnerable learners. Strengthen European cooperation – build lasting partnerships among AVFK, JYU, JKU, and SEC for knowledge exchange and educational innovation. Advance EU priorities – support Erasmus+ goals for innovation, inclusion, and digital transformation in higher education.
The project was launched to respond to a clear gap in European teacher education the lack of structured, evidence-based preparation in cognitive coaching and needs-based pedagogies. Teacher training programmes provided strong theoretical foundations but offered few practical tools for identifying and addressing the cognitive and socio-emotional diversity of learners. This gap became especially visible in the context of growing neurodiversity, migration, and post-pandemic learning challenges. The consortium applied for this project to modernize teacher training curricula and promote more inclusive, data-driven approaches in higher education. Building on AVFK’s Cognitive and Sensory-Motor Profile Test, the project aimed to adapt this diagnostic tool to multilingual contexts and integrate it into an open-access, digital training programme. By combining scientific evidence, cognitive diagnostics, and digital learning, the project empowered teacher trainers and student teachers to use cognitive coaching strategies in everyday practice. It directly supported EU priorities for innovation, inclusion, and digital transformation in higher education, ensuring that future educators are equipped to meet the diverse learning needs.
