The project aimed to promote a more inclusive apprenticeship system for deaf and hard-of-hearing learners by developing a comprehensive Quality Standard for distance apprenticeship. This was achieved through the creation of practical tools, digital solutions, and collaborative activities targeting three main groups: VET providers, companies, and learners. The project specifically aimed to enhance inclusion, reduce barriers to labour market access, and challenge misconceptions about the employability and professional contribution of people with disabilities.
The QSA4Disability project was developed in response to persistent inequalities faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing learners in vocational education and training (VET), particularly in accessing and successfully completing apprenticeships. Despite increasing digitalisation of education and labour markets, inclusive distance apprenticeship systems remain underdeveloped across Europe. The project builds on the need to ensure equal access to VET opportunities, improve employability outcomes, and support both VET providers and businesses in adapting their practices to inclusive, digital environments.
