Objectives

The main aims & objectives of Ballyfermot Youth Service and this project was to work with young people in the Ballyfermot area to empower them to make positive decisions around their life choices, to meet their needs by providing appropriate social, personal and developmental social awareness programmes. Our programmes use critical social and non-formal education approaches. This project allowed these young people to critically think and tackle issues that are affecting them, and to gain knowledge that enhances their personal, social, political, and cultural awareness. Youth mobility is a core principal of BYS which offers challenges and impact on young people we work with, therefore, staff are aware of the Erasmus + National and European practices and policies to engage long term in the context of European mobility projects. For this project our objectives were.1. to encourage our participants to take control of their own project which meant, planning, finances, budgeting, passports, e111 cards, accommodation etc. 2. Learning to become independant taking control of their own lives 3. Experience new cultures, both through meeting new people. 4. Travelling as a young adult for first time gaining confidences in their own abilities to critically manage and make decisions. We aim at a European level to be a champion and empower others to develop, create, influence and understand the potentials of mobility projects. BYS is committed to the provision of quality youth services in a manner that ensures the safety and welfare of young people. How we integrate these young people in the social and cultural context of Discover EU Inclusion is for us one of the main objectives. What we wanted to achieve is for the young people to benefit from observing their peers in different environments/ countries.
