Objectives

The Institute’s Erasmus+ focus is the project KA131 with its chief aim being to sustain and develop Internationalisation opportunities for students and staff through implementation of activities associated with KA131. in particular: developing global- and intercultural awareness of staff and students through engagement with mobility; developing and enhancing international engagement as set out in the Institute’s Strategic Plan; promoting engagement in activities that correspond to the horizontal priorities of Erasmus+ specifically Digitalisation; Inclusion and Diversity; Sustainability, and Civic Engagement. The Institute is particularly focused on ways that Erasmus+ can support its objective to educate learners to be interculturally-competent graduates, with the skills-sets needed to work effectively in multicultural, globalised work environments. As an institution with high levels of socio-economic disadvantage among its students, it promotes inclusion by enabling learners to participate in Erasmus+ by championing the KA131 inclusion supports. The Institute prioritises the promotion of long-term mobility among students, as it recognises this to be the optimum way for students to accrue the long-term benefits that Erasmus+ engagement brings. In light however of the growing demand by its students and staff post-pandemic to participate in short-term physical and blended mobilities and due to the growth in requests from partner universities to engage in short-term Erasmus+ mobility, it promotes short-term mobility opportunities too, as is evidenced in the mobility activities recorded in this project.
