Objectives

The Erasmus+ project aimed to empower Nordic urban youth by establishing a collaborative platform to address community challenges. It facilitated dialogue through a blend of online and in-person meetings, notably a significant conference held in Reykjavik. Through these interactions, young people were encouraged to engage in meaningful conversations, enhance their critical thinking, and develop problem-solving and communication skills. Cross-cultural exchange and understanding among youth from different Nordic countries were promoted as another core objective. By fostering collaboration and dialogue, the project aimed to cultivate empathy, tolerance, and social cohesion. Moreover, it sought to raise awareness among young people about the diverse urban challenges across different cities and empower them to creatively and collaboratively devise solutions. Furthermore, the project endeavored to lay the groundwork for future cooperation between young people and youth workers in the participating cities.

Background

The Erasmus+ project aimed to create a collaborative platform for young people to discuss and address significant issues. Young people often lack opportunities to voice their opinions, so we attempted to support them in developing ideas for democratic participation and social engagement, preparing them to become active members of society. The project addressed key needs: Bridging the gap in young people's access to policymakers, providing a safe platform to communicate youth issues and drive change. Addressing the decline in youth participation in democratic processes by offering innovative methods to formulate their ideas to hopefully reach policymakers. Promoting cross-cultural exchange and learning, fostering understanding, empathy, and cooperation among young people from different backgrounds. Tapping into Nordic youth's readiness for democratic engagement by creating participation opportunities tailored to their interests. By addressing these needs, the project empowered young people to become active citizens capable of positively impacting their communities.
