ATTAIN implemented a structured series of activities, including research, co-design, and piloting of digital learning tools. Partners collaboratively developed a MOOC on accessible tourism and a Web App featuring realistic personas and practical scenarios for skills application. Transnational project meetings guided the methodological approach and ensured consistency across countries. Pilot activities were conducted in Italy, Spain, Greece, and Lithuania, involving social and healthcare providers, tourism operators, VET educators, and other stakeholders, to test usability, content relevance, and transferability. Additionally, national and international multiplier events, workshops, and six project newsletters supported dissemination, stakeholder engagement, and feedback collection, ensuring the outputs were adapted to local and professional contexts.
The ATTAIN project was developed to respond to the growing need for inclusive and accessible tourism services across Europe. Many tourists with disabilities or special needs face barriers to fully participating in travel, leisure, and hospitality experiences due to a lack of tailored services and trained personnel. Social and healthcare providers, as well as tourism professionals, often lack the specific skills and knowledge required to facilitate accessibility in practice. VET centres and educators also require innovative tools to integrate accessibility-focused learning into their curricula. ATTAIN addressed these gaps by creating digital learning solutions to enhance competencies, promote inclusive practices, and support collaboration between social-care and tourism sectors, ultimately fostering equal opportunities for all tourists.
