Before submitting the application for the Erasmus+ KA131 project, our foundation had gained several years of experience in projects related to internationalisation and training on sustainability and energy efficiency. In particular, we participated as a partner in the SKILLED (Sustainable Skills for Local Developer) and WATTELSE (CRÉER UNE DYNAMIQUE EUROPÉENNE DE TRANSITION DES MÉTIERS DE L’ÉNERGIE) projects funded by the Erasmus+ programme, as well as in the interBITS cross-border cooperation project, funded in its first edition by the ALCOTRA Italy-France 2014–2020 programme and in its second edition by the ALCOTRA Italy-France 2021–2027 programme. Building on these experiences, our foundation identified Erasmus+ as an opportunity to further expand and structure these activities within a broader and more international framework. The project pursued a dual objective: on the one hand, to strengthen students’ technical skills by offering them hands-on experience in European workplaces specialising in energy efficiency and sustainable construction; on the other, to foster intercultural and language competences, encouraging active citizenship and greater awareness of European identity. Language proficiency is an increasingly pressing challenge in the energy sector, which is characterised by a growing international dimension. For this reason, our foundation considered a mobility period of at least three months as a concrete step towards this goal. The expected benefits of the project primarily concerned our students, who would be better prepared for integration into the job market. At the same time, companies would benefit from qualified resources with international experience, capable of importing know-how and innovative practices from diverse professional contexts. Through this project, we also aimed to strengthen cooperation networks with European partners and structurally integrate internationalisation into local training pathways.
