Objectives

In the 2023 Erasmus call, an increase in the number of mobility programs undertaken by both incoming and outgoing students has been recorded. In particular, outgoing mobility registered a significant increase of 60% compared to the 2022 Erasmus call, a result that demonstrates the effectiveness of the actions implemented by the University and the positive feedback from the various stakeholders. This increase has also influenced doctoral student mobility and short-term mobility. Incoming mobility increased by approximately 10% compared to the previous year. The University has encouraged mobility by using its own and ministerial funding in order to integrate the European funds, paying particular attention to students with fewer economical opportunities. The University of Pisa has worked to offer a wider range of mobility opportunities for both incoming and outgoing students within the Circle U. Alliance and BIPs on the basis of specific agreements. The University has developped the implementation of Erasmus Mobility portal to manage the mobilities via EWP, starting from the exchange of inter-institutional agreements (IIAs). To offer more mobility opportunities, a call for applications was published for short-term mobilities carried out within the Circle U. Alliance, often organized in the form of BIPs and funded with university resources. As planned in Call 2023, the three planned BIPs were then implemented, following the dissemination of the initiative through the publication of a dedicated call for proposals. Despite the initial allocation of 10% for extra-EU mobility, given the numerous requests and the lack of Erasmus funds, the University has decided to use its own funds to offer first, second and third cycle students the opportunity to participate in mobility programmes both in the United Kingdom (UK) and in other third countries not associated with the programme (regions 1-14). Regarding staff, given that the funds received would have covered a certain number of mobility projects and not met all requests, the University, to give more interested parties the opportunity to take advantage of this opportunity, decided to move the OS to STA and STT. This would almost double the number of staff who could have completed the mobility project if only the allocated funds had been used, thus achieving an excellent participation rate. Regarding welcoming incoming guests, the University of Pisa, has organized a Staff Training Week, gathering applications from interested partners.
