Objectives

The implementation of the project had as its main objective the strengthening of the Conservatory’s internationalisation process, by offering students and staff the opportunity to live educational and professional experiences in a European context. Through mobility, the aim was to promote the development of transversal, linguistic, and professional competences, to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, to foster inclusion and equal opportunities, as well as to consolidate academic cooperation with partner institutions. The full use of the resources allowed these goals to be achieved in full coherence with the general objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme. With the full launch of the new 2021-27 cycle, the implementation of the project aimed to further and more consciously foster participants’ access, including those with fewer opportunities, in a context of extended international relations, with broad use of digitalisation in the management of the Programme, along the digital transformation process of EWP. The Conservatory intended to promote international cooperation as the primary vehicle towards excellence, with new Inter-Institutional Agreements and new cooperation agreements with private partners, already identified in the previous project as recipients of a wider and more diversified range of mobilities, for greater flexibility of staff mobility and the development of new initiatives for traineeship activities. In this perspective of expansion and diversification of internationalisation activities, collaboration continued with the SuedNord Consortium, for which the Conservatory also successfully coordinated the Blended Intensive Programme “Bach for Peace” in Rome (29 May – 2 June 2024), and active participation was undertaken in the reconstituted Working With Music+ Consortium, which, with the launch of theme-based mobilities at European institutions of long-standing experience, is giving a significant boost to the internationalisation of artistic research, showing how the opportunities of the Programme are extremely useful also for the effective start of doctoral studies in the AFAM sector. The internationalisation strategy of the Conservatory, which at the recent NAFSA fair in San Diego was presented with the slogan “400 Years of History / In the Heart of the Mediterranean / In Dialogue with the World”, has in the meantime also extended to Sub-Saharan Africa and the Southern Mediterranean with an International Credit Mobility project born from the impetus of Study in Sicily during its mission to Egypt. The complex project MMM Mediterranean Sub-Saharan Music Movement has been added to the three international cooperation projects – Musense, Inclumusic, Vietmus – through which the Scarlatti Conservatory has significantly extended and strengthened its international reputation. Despite the work and challenges connected to the difficult management of mobilities to and from Egypt, Tunisia, and Nigeria, the present KA131 project has seen the implementation of numerous and diversified mobilities, with the full achievement of its objectives and the valuable opportunity for contact between participants in European mobilities and students and staff incoming from Regions 3 and 9: the meeting, dialogue, and shared activities produced mutual artistic, professional, and human enrichment, which has most effectively affirmed the benefits of the Programme, with its values and its new opportunities.
