The project represented a concrete tool for the University of Basilicata to implement the internationalization strategies outlined in the European Policy Statement (EPS) 2021–2027, the document guiding the entire international action of the University. The activities carried out within the project aimed to translate into operational initiatives the University’s values and strategic priorities, such as enhancing the European and non-European dimension (the University has in force 273 Erasmus+ Inter-institutional Agreements, of which 35 are with non-EU partners), social inclusion, sustainability, and digitalization. In this context, international mobility of students and staff played a central role, significantly contributing to the growth of the academic community and the achievement of medium- and long-term objectives: improving the quality of education and research, ensuring equal learning opportunities, promoting active European citizenship, and strengthening the overall competitiveness of the University. The specific objectives pursued through the project can be summarised in four main directions. First, to provide students and staff with educational experiences that enriched their academic, professional, and personal background. For outgoing students, the objective was to ensure the full recognition of activities carried out abroad, in line with European standards. For incoming students, it was crucial to offer a welcoming and stimulating environment, with high-quality teaching and cultural activities as well as support services that facilitated integration. For academic and administrative staff, the project sought to encourage participation in teaching and training periods aimed at developing linguistic, methodological, and organisational skills, as well as strengthening networks of collaboration with international colleagues. Secondly, the objective remains to continue supporting the recovery of mobility after the years post-pandemic, which drastically reduced international flows. The project has contributed to consolidating a process already underway of rebuilding trust and increasing participation, progressively reinforcing mobility as an integral and natural part of the university experience. A third objective focused on strengthening the University’s internal management capacity. The EPS identifies the digitalisation of processes and the simplification of administrative procedures as key priorities. In this respect, the project supported the adoption of technical and organisational procedures linked to Erasmus Without Paper, the electronic management of Learning Agreements, and the gradual dematerialisation of documentation. This not only reduced processing times but also ensured greater transparency and efficiency, reinforcing the digital dimension of university governance. Finally, the project pursued the objective of reducing inequalities in access by allocating additional funds to students with fewer opportunities and from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. Thanks to the integration of European, national, and university funds, mobility was made truly accessible to a wider number of students, expanding the pool of beneficiaries and opening the way to the participation of vulnerable groups that are traditionally more difficult to reach. In this way, the project gave concrete expression to the commitment to inclusion set out in the EPS. Ultimately, the project aimed to strengthen the internationalisation of the University, stimulate the individual and collective growth of the academic community, modernise internal processes, and foster fair and sustainable participation in mobility opportunities, in full alignment with the strategic vision of the EPS.
