Objectives

The University of Molise (Unimol) has chosen to proactively face the ongoing changes affecting the academic world both directly and indirectly. In its new Strategic Plan, the University has identified three key areas: - Inclusion and sustainability; - Internationalization; - Digital transformation. In terms of academic offerings, in line with the general direction of Italian universities, many degree programs have been revised to provide more flexible training, better suited to the fast-evolving job market and societal changes. Employment is a central issue for the entire academic system, and particularly for the Molise region, where demographic decline and structural challenges negatively impact the economic and social fabric. The region’s peripheral geographical location and lack of adequate infrastructure present significant barriers to opening up the territory to the outside world. Despite progress made, the internationalization process in Molise still faces several challenges, including: a) the lack of modern and efficient logistics networks; b) the limited adoption of innovative technologies needed to boost the international competitiveness of local businesses; c) the need to develop specific skills to navigate international markets, such as language proficiency. Nonetheless, Unimol is able to provide qualified human capital and practical tools to support both current and future project development. Opportunities offered by European programs and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) represent concrete avenues to attract young talent and encourage technology transfer to the business sector. Moreover, participation in excellence networks and international cooperation and cultural exchange projects with foreign universities enhances the University’s prestige and strengthens its global positioning. Internationalization is therefore a strategic priority for expanding the University’s reach and impact worldwide. It is essential to implement an effective promotion and outreach strategy abroad, with the aim of strengthening the University's brand and reputation beyond national borders. The path Unimol intends to pursue in the coming years builds on the stability it has achieved and the high level of expertise it has developed. The current objective is to engage with leading universities on an international scale, highlighting the results achieved and the collaboration opportunities Unimol can offer. For the next three years, the main areas of action will include: attracting international students, researchers, and faculty members, fostering a multicultural and globally connected academic community; strengthening academic collaborations with international institutions; promoting exchange programs for students, faculty, and administrative staff; offering degree programs entirely in English on globally relevant topics; hosting an increasing number of international events and conferences. Planned initiatives include: encouraging student and faculty mobility; expanding and consolidating international cooperation activities; promoting multilingualism; enhancing the Erasmus program and other forms of two-way international mobility (for students, PhD candidates, and faculty); increasing and strengthening partnerships with European and non-European universities, including joint degrees and co-supervised doctoral programs; expanding English-taught courses and encouraging the attainment of language certifications.
