The University of Perugia considers internationalisation a strategic priority for strengthening the quality of its educational offerings, promoting innovation, and supporting the personal and professional development of the entire academic community. In this context, the Erasmus+ Programme is a fundamental tool for offering international mobility experiences to students, recent graduates, doctoral students, lecturers and technical-administrative staff, librarians and CELs (Collaborators and Language Experts), contributing to the development of more competitive profiles that are aware and ready to face global challenges. With the implementation of the Erasmus+ project approved under Agreement No. 2023-1-IT02-KA131-HED-000122546, the University has pursued the overall objective of expanding and diversifying mobility opportunities, strengthening academic cooperation with European and non-European partners, and enhancing the blended and innovative approach of Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP). The intention was to promote increasingly inclusive, sustainable and qualified participation, capable of generating positive impacts at the individual, institutional and systemic levels. From the students' point of view, the project aimed to broaden learning opportunities in international contexts, increase transversal skills (linguistic, digital, intercultural, relational), develop adaptability, autonomy, problem solving and initiative, and facilitate entry into the world of work through high-level study and internship experiences at universities, companies and partner organisations. The launch of the BIPs represented a strategic opportunity to experiment with joint, interdisciplinary and flexible teaching programmes, combining virtual activities and intensive periods of face-to-face learning. These programmes made it possible to involve students who, for economic or personal reasons, would have had difficulty participating in long-term mobility, contributing to greater inclusiveness. They have also fostered collaboration between teachers from different European institutions in the design of innovative training content, enhancing the digital and methodological skills of the teaching staff. During the project, two BIPs were created by the University, distinguished by their multidisciplinary approach and the social relevance of the topics addressed. The first, “Art, recognition, education. A space for rethinking the relationship”, offered a critical reflection on the role of art in educational processes and in mechanisms of social and cultural recognition, involving students from different fields (education, visual arts, social sciences) in a theoretical and workshop-based programme. The second, “The forms of violence and its multifarious impacts across the lifespan: Psychological, educational and social perspectives”, analysed the various forms of violence and their effects at different stages of life, integrating psychological, pedagogical and sociological perspectives. Both programmes strengthened the European dimension of training, promoting intercultural dialogue and critical thinking on complex and current issues. For teaching and administrative staff, the main objectives of the project were: to stimulate comparison with international academic realities, to update professional skills and teaching methodologies, to promote the sharing of good practices and the construction of cooperation networks, and to contribute to the innovation of the University's internal services and processes. At an institutional level, the University sought to strengthen its network of academic collaborations, ensuring consistency and complementarity between study programmes and guaranteeing high quality standards in educational experiences abroad. The signing of new Erasmus+ agreements during the project demonstrates a constant commitment to making mobility opportunities broader, more diverse and more accessible. The project also aimed to actively respond to the cross-cutting priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme, helping to promote the inclusion and participation of students with fewer opportunities, promoting environmental sustainability through conscious forms of mobility and responsible travel choices, enhancing digital transformation through the use of online tools and virtual learning environments, and strengthening active citizenship and a sense of European belonging. In summary, through the implementation of individual mobility activities, including blended mobility, the University of Perugia has pursued the objective of training citizens and professionals capable of operating in complex and constantly evolving international contexts, contributing to the quality and openness of the higher education system.
