Objectives

Thanks to the funding from the 2023 Call, UniTrento is further strengthening its international dimension by increasing both outgoing and incoming mobilities across all types: from the traditional student mobility for study and traineeship to staff mobility for teaching and training. With regard to outgoing mobility, short-term mobility is being consolidated as a valid option for students and doctoral candidates who are unable to undertake a longer stay (such as students in medical sciences), through two main channels: - Mobilities carried out within the ECIU European alliance (https://www.unitn.it/en/international/eciu-university) for participation in challenges and micro-modules organized by the Partners; - Participation in Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) proposed by partner institutions and selected by the University’s departments. As for incoming mobility, short-term stays are almost entirely carried out within the framework of blended intensive programmes organized by UniTrento for: - ECIU challenges, - The annual staff week addressed to partner universities’ staff, - BIPs on cross-cutting themes involving different academic structures of the University. UniTrento is also opening new opportunities for staff, allowing academics to take part in training-only activities without teaching duties, previously available only to administrative staff. For internship, teaching, and training mobility, programs to the UK and Switzerland are fully included within the K131 framework, funded by 20% of the funds allocated for non-European destinations. For student mobility, for this last year, programs to the UK are funded with university funds, and those to Switzerland are covered by the SEMP grant. The 2023 Call is marked by the synergy between the K131 action and the University’s other international programmes. These funds are used to: - Support mobility within the ECIU Alliance. For students, the Erasmus short-term mobility framework is adopted for every program offered, for both incoming and outgoing mobility. For staff, funds for teaching and training are used. - Support student mobilities within the EMJMD courses in which the University participates, for those not receiving a consortium scholarship, during the mobility semester following their stay in Trento. - Support some staff mobilities under UniTrento’s K171 action that did not receive sufficient funding under ICM. During the overlapping phase of the 2023 and 2024 Calls, the University portal has been completely redesigned, including the section dedicated to international mobility, with a user-centered focus, particularly on students. The user journey has been refined with groups of students to make information clearer and more accessible both to those who wish to embark on a mobility experience and to those interested in spending a study period at UniTrento either as an exchange student or as a degree-seeking student. For outgoing mobility, the dedicated website is: https://www.unitn.it/en/international/going-abroad; for incoming mobility: https://www.unitn.it/en/international/coming-unitrento; for the international dimension, which also includes ECHE, EPS and the priorities of the Erasmus+ programme: https://www.unitn.it/en/international/international-dimension
