Objectives

The overarching goal was to use the Erasmus+ programme as a fundamental tool to sustain the mission of IUSS Pavia, which encompasses both its doctoral school and its undergraduates courses. The project played a dual role, tailored to the distinct needs of these two student groups. The specific objectives were: - to support research-based international mobility for doctoral candidates: a primary aim was to provide doctoral students with opportunities for advanced, research-oriented mobility. This was mainly achieved through traineeships, which were seen as an integral part of their training and research pathways. The funding structure reflects this priority, with significant grants allocated to "Mobility of students for traineeships (SMP)". The project successfully embedded this mobility into doctoral studies, with 28 out of 29 student traineeships being undertaken by doctoral candidates. This objective also aligns with the Erasmus+ priority of creating a bridge between higher education and research and innovation; - to enrich the academic training of students in undergraduates courses: for the highly talented students in the institution's undergraduates courses, the project aimed to offer opportunities to enhance their education through study abroad experiences. These students were more engaged in study mobility activities, which were better aligned with their specific curricula and academic schedule; - to facilitate Staff development and international collaboration: the project also aimed to support the mobility of academic and administrative staff. Funds were specifically allocated for staff mobility for both teaching (STA) and training (STT), demonstrating an objective to foster professional development and international cooperation among staff; - to address key European priorities: the project was designed to align with the horizontal priorities of the Erasmus+ programme. These include strengthening the international dimension through mobility to various countries, promoting the digital transition by developing participants' digital skills, and fostering inclusion and diversity.
