The University of Teramo (UNITE) has consistently placed internationalization at the core of its institutional strategy throughout the entire 2021–2027 programming period, investing significant resources to strengthen its global role and expand the international dimension of teaching, research, and training. This ongoing commitment is fully aligned with the Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) 2021–2027, the University Strategic Plan 2025–2030, and the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). In this context, UNITE has further developed opportunities for students, academic staff, and administrative personnel to participate in study periods, traineeships, teaching, and training abroad. The Erasmus+ Programme remains a fundamental pillar of this strategy: during the 2023 project, UNITE consolidated its network with over 300 Erasmus+ agreements in 27 Programme Countries and more than 60 cooperation agreements with institutions in 28 Partner Countries worldwide. These collaborations have expanded mobility opportunities and strengthened academic, cultural, and scientific relations on a global scale. The University Language Centre (CLA) and the Erasmus, Agreements and International Mobility Office (UEAMI) have played a crucial role in supporting mobility, offering language preparation and orientation services. Italian language courses for incoming students, as well as English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic courses for outgoing participants, have ensured full integration and enhanced the intercultural and academic experience of participants. In addition to the Erasmus+ Programme, UNITE has continued its participation in other important international initiatives in the field of education and research, such as Horizon Europe and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, thereby increasing the University's international visibility and creating synergies with mobility activities. The objectives pursued through the implementation of the project were to: Improve the quality and quantity of mobility for students and staff, strengthening academic and professional skills, employability, and the recognition of study periods, traineeship experiences, qualifications, and degrees obtained abroad. For staff mobility, a specific objective was the acquisition of best practices from more experienced universities to be transferred to UNITE for institutional development. Increase the attractiveness of UNITE by welcoming a growing number of international students and staff, inviting visiting professors and researchers from prestigious institutions, offering high-quality teaching oriented toward the labor market, and creating an increasingly international and diverse academic environment. Strengthen the internationalization of study programmes, particularly through the launch of double and joint degrees, and the promotion of new courses specifically designed for international students. Optimize the relationship between acquisition and recognition of credits obtained abroad, thus improving academic performance, institutional reputation, and the University’s ability to attract additional financial resources. Strengthen international networks through the creation of new partnerships and the consolidation of existing collaborations with European and non-European institutions, to develop competitive projects (e.g., Erasmus+ KA2) and expand the international dimension of teaching, research, and innovation.
