Objectives

The project is a further confirmation of the effectiveness and efficiency of the Mobility Consortium coordinated by IFOA, which is unique in Italy, accredited by Indire and composed of ITS Academies. Through the Consortium, which at the date of this report is composed of 8 ITS Academies located in 3 Italian regions (Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Lombardy), the process of Internationalisation of the curricula and advanced training programmes of the ITS Academies belonging to the Consortium has been strengthened. In the years since the Consortium was established in 2018, the number of ITS Academies requesting to enter as members in the Consortium coordinated by IFOA has increased, which is an interesting demonstration of the growing awareness developing within the ITS Academies, which are focusing increasingly on the internationalisation of their study programmes, which are still less attractive and less well known than the more prestigious and widespread three-year university degree programmes. Following the positive and appreciable results obtained with students and staff mobility projects funded by the national agency Indire in previous calls, the ITS Academies of the Consortium have decided to rely on an experienced and reliable partner such as IFOA for the overall organisation of their students' mobility in the 2023 call as well. By combining the ITS taught training programmes with a period of training abroad funded by Erasmus, the ITS Academies are able to become more competitive in attracting candidates and contribute enormously to the enhancement of those transversal, linguistic and soft skills that can facilitate the employability and stable entry of their students into the world of work, skills that can only be acquired through an experience abroad. For the call 2023, the ITS Academies belonging to the Consortium once again offered the opportunity to participate to Erasmus mobilities to 2 students for each of the ITS courses activated (representing approximately 10% of the total student population): for all the students admitted to the mobilites, the curricular internship scheduled at the end of the first year of the ITS course was the one which took place abroad (only in a few limited cases, the students did abroad the final internship at the end of the second year of course). As far as staff mobility is concerned, the ITS Academies are always very interested in having their administrative or teaching staff participating in the study tours organised by IFOA, in order to allow and foster a professional development of their resources and useful job shadowing experiences with other similar organisations in other countries. The ITS Academies finance all mobility programmes with additional resources, so as not to burden on the students' families. In fact, the Erasmus grant and the additional funding provided by the ITS Academies cover the entire cost of a mobility experience: such as fees related to company-match, tutoring and ongoing monitoring, costs for the pre-departure training, cost of accommodation in single/double rooms, return flights, medical insurance and third-party liability insurance for the entire duration of the mobility programme. Students are only responsible for the costs of food and transport locally. Exceeding these percentages of mobilities and guaranteeing access to Erasmus grants to a larger number of students is not currently feasible, since this depens heavily on the additional resources that the ITS Academies have available to be invested in addition to the Erasmus+ grants.
