Through the 2023 KA131 Call, Saint Louis College of Music fully reclaims its role as a LEADING PLAYER in the European music scene, both in quantitative and qualitative terms. In terms of Erasmus Horizontal Priorities, the most significant progress is seen in the area of INCLUSION, followed by Digitization and the Green Transition. The total number of participants stands at 48, compared to the 45 mobilities granted. The project, with a structured duration of 26 months, brings SMS mobilities, after a couple of trial years, to a perfect balance between short mobilities, long mobilities, and distribution across the various Calls. This particular Call is preferred for SMS mobilities, and to a lesser extent for SMP mobilities, due to the relaunch of the Erasmus+ Consortium Working With Music (https://workingwithmusic.net/), of which Saint Louis is a member. The Consortium focuses on post-graduate internship experiences and offers a strong network of support for students embarking on traineeships. It also allows access to Cofinanziamento Nazionale, which is otherwise not available to Saint Louis as a private institution. Saint Louis College of Music confirms its role both as a Coordinator of BIP (Blended Intensive Programmes) and as a participant in high-value, ethically and inclusively oriented BIPs. As a coordinator, it continues its successful “European Jazz’s Cool” format, which will celebrate its third edition as a BIP in 2024 (https://saintlouis.eu/news/european-jazzs-cool-2024/), with Saint Louis as coordinator and four close partner institutions. As a participant, Saint Louis is involved at both the student and faculty level, with teachers also serving as tutors, in the prestigious BIP “New Standards: 101 Lead Sheets by Women Composers”, and, through STT mobilities only, in the BIP “Jazz Intensive – Combos, Masterclasses and Career Development in Vienna”, both coordinated by the Vienna-based institution JAM MUSIC LAB.(https://www.jammusiclab.com/events/erasmus-bip-new-standards-101-lead-sheets-women-composers; https://www.jammusiclab.com/events/erasmus-bip-jazz-intensive-combos-masterclasses-career-development). Faculty members are increasingly engaged in both training and teaching activities, participating in a wide range of experiences across different geographical areas and formats. Following the pandemic pause, the Danish guitarists' “Guitar Maestro T.E.A.R.S” summit resumes. For the first time, Saint Louis faculty take part in Madrid’s TAI INTERNACIONAL ARTS WEEK. Three lecturers travel to Vilnius for the now-regular International Teaching Week. The training seminars organized by the AEC-Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (https://aec-music.eu/), remain highly engaging, involving participants this year in both the PJP-Pop and Jazz Platform in Pamplona and the HarMA HUB seminar in Valencia. Last but not least, the expansion of non-EU mobilities: Saint Louis takes a leading role in Nepal during the GLOMUS Camp (https://www.glomus.net/), in Kazakhstan, and in Colombia, where it lays the groundwork for future Erasmus cooperations. These collaborations have already sparked further initiatives, such as the institutional project "Playing Memories", funded thanks to Italy’s PNRR (https://www.playingmemories.eu/). The administrative staff is no less involved: the number of administrative employees embracing the challenge of contributing to the internationalization of the institution is growing. This year, three administrative staff members took part in targeted Erasmus+ mobilities for the first time, focusing on specific departments and roles. Both STA (Staff Mobility for Teaching) and STT (Staff Mobility for Training) play a crucial role in significantly strengthening the impact of Saint Louis’s internationalization strategy. Thus, a rich and diversified Erasmus+ action plan has been established, with a high number of mobilities carried out. The goal is twofold: consolidating long-standing partnerships and expanding inter-institutional agreements, thanks to the proactive, relational, and planning skills of a team of young lecturers who are increasingly active in the Erasmus+ sphere. The 2023 KA131 Call therefore focused both on numbers and on the quality of the activities implemented, encompassing every sector: study, traineeship, teaching, and training.
