Objectives

The KA171/2023 Project stems from collaboration with two universities in Central Asia (Region 6): the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages in Almaty (Kazakhstan) and the Uzbekistan State World Language University in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). The initiative aims to strengthen academic ties between IULM’s Faculty of Interpreting and Translation and the Russian-speaking countries of Central Asia. At IULM, the BA in Interpreting and Communication and the MA in Specialized Translation and Conference Interpreting include a specialization in Russian. This explains the strong interest in linguistics, literature, culture, linguistic and cultural mediation, language teaching and in Russian as a foreign or second language. Such interest is also linked to the current geopolitical situation, which has made student mobility to Russia impossible. Although adjustments to participant targets were required during implementation, the project has generated and continues to generate significant positive outcomes.
