Objectives

The project, developed through joint planning with four higher education institutions from the two regions south of Sicily, aimed to create an intercultural space between the Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa, enhancing in an innovative and inclusive way the respective musical traditions through the use of contemporary languages, music therapy and art-therapy. The initiative also involved young migrants as secondary stakeholders, thereby highlighting the value of mobility across the various activities and final events: music that moves/migrates into other contexts; instruments that “move” new music; music and dance that “move” people. The objective was, on the one hand, to strengthen students’ artistic, professional, and interpersonal skills, prioritising their mobilities over those of staff in order to guarantee the best opportunities not only for young musicians but also for young music therapists, thanks to new shared opportunities for artistic expression and access to the labour market; and, on the other hand, to strengthen the internationalisation strategy and dialogue with the regions of the broad and complex partnership, enhancing the skills of both teachers and staff engaged in internationalisation.
