The main objective of the project was to explore the educational potential of larp as a tool to foster empathy, understanding and dialogue around LGBTQIA+ experiences. More specifically, the project aimed to introduce educators, facilitators and community organisers to critically-oriented larp design methodologies and to provide them with practical tools to create inclusive and participatory learning environments. Another objective was to develop a framework that would enable LGBTQIA+ communities to express their stories and perspectives through immersive storytelling and collaborative play. The project also aimed to strengthen the capacity of partner organisations to design and facilitate experiential learning activities addressing complex social themes.
The project was developed in response to the need to explore new educational approaches to address themes related to LGBTQIA+ identities, histories and lived experiences. Traditional educational methods often struggle to convey the emotional and social dimensions of these topics. The partnership recognised the potential of Live Action Role-Playing larp) as an experiential and participatory learning tool capable of fostering empathy, dialogue and critical reflection. The project brought together organisations working in larp design, non-formal education and LGBTQIA+ advocacy to experiment with creative and immersive approaches to storytelling and community engagement. It aimed to respond to the needs of educators, facilitators and community organisations seeking innovative methodologies to address diversity, inclusion and civic participation while empowering LGBTQIA+ communities to share their narratives in meaningful and participatory ways.
