Objectives

With this project, we aimed to support the development of responsible and active attitudes toward nature and climate challenges. We believe that young people need to feel connected to the natural world in order to take care of it. Our goal was to help students become more aware, engaged, and prepared to protect the environment—both locally and globally. Our goals were: 1. Understanding Biodiversity: Students explored different ecosystems to learn about species diversity and the importance of protecting endangered animals like bees and marine life. 2. Environmental and Historical Awareness: Students reflected on human impact by linking local history with sustainability through outdoor learning. 3. Promoting Outdoor Education: We encouraged learning in nature to make lessons more engaging and inclusive, especially for students who struggle in traditional classrooms. 4. Sustainable Development: Students learned about EU environmental goals and how to reduce their own impact at school and in daily life. 5. Digital Literacy: By creating podcasts, videos, quizzes, and other digital tools, students improved their tech skills and shared their work on a public website, ensuring long-term impact.

Background

We chose to take part in this project because we felt it was necessary and urgent to address climate change at school in a different and more meaningful way. Our aim was to approach this important topic through innovative methods and in an international context. During the project, we carried out various workshops and outdoor learning activities that brought students closer to environmental issues they may have already studied in class. However, through this hands-on approach, they were able to learn by doing—often without even realizing it. This made the learning process more engaging and effective. Working with international partners was also a key element: it allowed students to discover different perspectives and actions regarding climate change and helped them understand that this is a global challenge. Through collaboration, they saw how we can face this issue together, learning from each other and enriching our ideas through shared experiences.
