Objectives

Through DIG.ENT/ART, the partnership aimed to contribute to a structural modernisation of higher education in the artistic field by addressing the gap between traditional art training and the accelerating digital and entrepreneurial transformation of the Cultural and Creative Industries. The core objective was not only to introduce new contents, but to embed digitalisation, sustainability and entrepreneurial competences into artistic education in a coherent, systemic and transferable way. The project sought to develop a shared European competence framework for emerging artistic professionals, grounded in research and stakeholder dialogue, and to translate it into a modular and adaptable training model supported by concrete pilots, co-design workshops and interdisciplinary experimentation. By testing and refining this model across partner institutions, DIG.ENT/ART aimed to generate evidence-based practices capable of strengthening institutional capacity, fostering transnational cooperation and supporting a long-term transformation of art education ecosystems in Europe.

Background

DIG.ENT/ART was conceived in response to a structural gap identified within higher education institutions in the arts: while artistic training remains strong in technical and creative domains, digital transformation and entrepreneurial competences are often insufficiently integrated into curricula. At European level, the cultural and creative sectors are undergoing rapid technological change, requiring artists and artisans to master digital tools, sustainable production approaches and self-positioning strategies in increasingly competitive markets. Through its experience in vocational and higher training in the CCI sector, partners of the project observed that students and young professionals frequently lack structured pathways to develop transversal skills combining digitalisation, sustainability and entrepreneurship. The project therefore addressed the need to modernize art education by building a shared European framework, testing innovative training pilots, and creating practical tools (Skills Box) to support institutional change. DIG.ENT/ART aimed to strengthen the employability, adaptability and future-readiness of emerging artistic professionals.
