The main objective of the Erasmus+ project was to foster the personal and social growth of the young people involved, promoting the founding values of the European Union and encouraging young people to participate actively in political and social life. We sought to achieve a number of specific objectives, linked both to the development of participants' skills and to the dissemination of European Union values, through non-formal educational activities and direct experiences in an intercultural context. Main objectives: Raising young people's awareness of the values of the European Union and the Erasmus+ programme: The project aimed to raise awareness among young participants of the values of social cohesion, inclusion, democracy and solidarity that form the foundation of the European Union. Through activities such as youth exchanges on the themes of art, social inclusion and sustainable development, young people were encouraged to reflect on how these values can be applied in their daily lives and in the European context. Participants were also introduced to the Erasmus+ programme, understanding the opportunities it offers and its importance in the European context. Encouraging youth participation and political awareness: Another central objective was to promote the active participation of young people in political life, especially in view of the 2024 European elections. Through activities such as “Voices Unleashed”, we sought to engage young people in political debate and election simulations, creating moments of reflection on the functioning of European institutions and their role in society. The aim was to provide participants with the tools to better understand the democratic process, to stimulate their interest in European politics and to encourage more informed engagement. Developing transferable and specific skills: The project also focused on the development of transferable skills (soft skills), which are essential for entering the world of work and for personal growth. During the youth exchanges, participants worked on skills such as self-confidence, time management, intercultural communication, teamwork and adaptability. In addition, through practical activities such as graffiti creation, theatre, street dance and video production, young people developed practical and artistic skills, encouraging creativity and individual expression. Promoting environmental sustainability and respect for the environment: Another key objective of the project was to raise awareness among young people about sustainability and environmental impact. The “Earth Connect” exchange focused on environmental sustainability, addressing issues such as climate change, waste management and sustainable development practices. In particular, a plogging event was organised, involving participants in litter collection and promoting more responsible behaviour towards the environment. The aim was to encourage young people to adopt more sustainable behaviours and to become ambassadors for these values within their communities. Creating pathways for youth participation and strengthening the role of youth workers: Another objective of the project was to strengthen the role of youth workers and youth educators by offering them the opportunity to share experiences, good practices and innovative educational tools. Through the “Youth-Led Democracy” and “Code-Up” seminars, we provided educators and youth leaders with the skills they need to work more effectively with young people, using non-formal education methodologies and digital tools. The aim was to create an international network of professionals in the field who could continue to collaborate and exchange innovative practices. Promoting social inclusion through cultural diversity: The project also aimed to promote social inclusion, particularly among young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or rural areas, by promoting integration through cultural diversity. The activities were designed to encourage the active participation of young people with fewer opportunities, stimulating their personal growth and cultural awareness. In particular, we worked with groups of young people from migrant backgrounds or peripheral areas, giving them the opportunity to share their experiences and compare them with other European realities.
