Objectives

The development of the project "The Digital Jumpstart" highlighted several key points. First, it focused on occupations requiring basic computer or digital knowledge and high technical skills. These professions remained relatively unaffected even during the COVID-19 crisis period because they could easily switch to remote work. However, many young professionals found it difficult to showcase their online skills and authenticity in the job market. Due to pandemic-related closures and quarantine measures, young people had to rely on online courses and remote work, which raised concerns about their ability to effectively access online resources and the need to improve their digital skills to meet job requirements. Even after the Covid period, many companies, educational institutions, and labor institutions continued to operate increasingly using technology. The main goal of the youth exchange was to raise awareness among the young participants about the importance of technology and acquiring digital skills. The goal was to help them become more competitive in the job market by giving them the opportunity to learn essential digital skills and put them into practice, as well as to get an idea of the kind of competitive skills so that they could return home and continue learning. The project also emphasized the importance of improving soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, and adaptability, as these skills are crucial for effective collaboration in the digital future, more and more. The project recognized the need for different levels of digital skills, including basic skills such as web research, meeting participation, online folder management and online communication, intermediate skills such as digital graphic design and marketing, and soft skills that are essential for collaboration in any work environment. In conclusion, the main goal of the project was to empower young people with different levels of digital skills and provide them with opportunities to acquire the idea of entrepreneurship. This initiative is in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 8, which focuses on promoting decent work for all and fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth. The project was implemented by a consortium of five youth organizations from Italy, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania. The primary objective was to encourage people to acquire, improve or update their digital skills for educational, job search or career advancement purposes. Participants were motivated to develop basic, intermediate and advanced digital skills as well as soft skills. In addition, the project aimed to inspire participants to find the use of digital technologies to express their creativity and provided them with the means to turn their ideas into reality using digital tools. Another goal was to help participants understand the framework of digital skills and their relevance in today's world. The project encouraged young people to embrace change and learn to adapt to it. It also aimed to increase young people's knowledge of the use of digital and social media as a job recruitment tool. The project focused on developing practical web design skills, design skills and competence in using various online creative tools. Materials were developed to provide better motivation for youth through nonformal education by linking technology to the educational process. The project aimed to create positive motivational outcomes to support engagement, research, writing and presentation of work. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about different cultures and collaborate in mixed cultural groups, thereby improving their teamwork and leadership skills. In addition, the project aimed to raise participants' awareness of the Erasmus+ program and its benefits through nonformal education. Ultimately, it enabled participants to become active citizens and explore other opportunities. To achieve these goals, we made some changes to the program workshops. For example, we organized an activity on public speaking. To break the ice a bit and prepare for a presentation in front of the group. The task was to simulate an episode of Shark Tank and present a realistic idea that we could create with our digital tools.
