During a preliminary analysis of our contexts we have understood how today in our countries and in almost all of Europe we are facing environmental challenges that, if properly addressed, can help us to save the Planet from the invasion of waste in the coming decades. We have understood how we, individual citizens of Europe, have a duty to do our part, in our small way we need to understand how to be useful to our communities so that everyone can begin to think rationally about their impact, in environmental terms, on the life of our Planet. Our consumer society accumulates waste materials every day, very often without the awareness that differentiating them can be the first step to give them new life. Through this youth exchange we feel the need to develop, in ourselves and in our peers, a sense of awareness of the concepts of sustainability and eco-sustainability and their practical applications, in order to understand the importance of sorting waste in order to give them new life. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, we have set together some specific objectives, concrete and practical, which if achieved will certainly contribute to achieving the overall goal of the entire project. Through the different activities, theoretical and practical, we will directly involve 5 young people (4 participants plus 1 leader) from eight different countries, a total of 41 participants who will learn new techniques of reuse and recycling of paper and cardboard, plastic and bottle caps, wood and textiles to create new objects to be used as games or home furnishings. The participants from each country, once the week of the project is over, will go to their countries with new knowledge to be able to share with their community with local actions which they will be in charge of organizing. Through the different public activities, organized both during the main activity and during the follow-up phase, we intend to involve, in this learning process, citizens of our local communities through moments of sharing: during the youth exchange we will organize, in fact, an open-day involving citizens, primary and secondary schools in the city and voluntary associations; the estimated participation is about 100/150 people with a very broad target age (from 16 years of school students to 60/70 years of free citizens). Such a wide "external"age target will allow to widen the beneficial effects of the project: such beneficial effects will be guaranteed by the use of the laboratory methodology during the open-day. During these open-day we will explain to our guests the techniques of recycling and reuse that we learned during the previous days of youth exchange. The open day will be a moment of contact and awareness because through this "lesson" we will all be more aware of the potential of reuse and recycling of waste materials; Through the project, finally, we also intend to explore and enhance our creative skills by putting them at the service of the environment to increase, in this way, the rate of recycling of waste materials in our families, schools and universities and at the same time stimulate our creativity to imagine new business paths useful to our future.
