Objectives

The general objective of the Peer Community Promoters project was the following: the creation of an action plan with activities and initiatives for young people in the area of the Ex-station. More specifically, it aimed to: - Involve young people in the life of their local community - Support them in taking initiatives for the benefit of the community - Strengthen collaboration with the municipal administration - Acquire knowledge and skills about the principles and processes of community development (framework) - Become peer community promoters - Visit good practices at national and European level - Promote European values. The project aimed to facilitate the Youth Forum of Pieve di Cento in creating an action plan with activities and initiatives for young people in the area of the Ex-station, a plan strongly shared with the municipal administration and local associations. To achieve this goal, the planned activities intended to give the young people of the Forum the opportunity to become peer community promoters, that is, young people able to gather ideas, interests and needs of the territorial community — especially of their peers — and turn them into a concrete action proposal to be submitted and defined together with the municipal administration. Peer Community Promoters aimed to develop a training and experiential path for the young people belonging to the Youth Forum but also for young people living in the territory of the Municipality of Pieve di Cento who were not directly involved in the Forum's activities. Another fundamental objective of the project was to establish a structured and sustainable relationship over time between the Youth Forum and the outgoing Municipal Administration first, and the newly elected one later, so that habits and skills useful for maintaining dialogue over the years could be developed, making it an integral part of the municipal Youth Policies. Similarly, the project aimed to institutionalize the relationship and collaboration of the Youth Forum with other Third Sector organizations operating in the territory, thus turning it into a point of reference and a stable interlocutor, a subject with whom to create new initiatives and engage in dialogue. It can therefore be stated that Peer Community Promoters had as its main objective, beyond the creation of the Action Plan, the effective activation of young people within their community and the building of relationships with various local actors, in order to create a generation of conscious, active, and responsible young people who could find their own role in the society they belong to. The objectives of the project were structured based on a series of needs identified at different levels: - The Youth Forum group itself, already an active body supported by the facilitators of Bangherang Cooperative; - The Municipal Administration, which has always believed in the importance of having a group of young people from the territory as interlocutors, capable of inspiring from the bottom up the structure of Youth Policies being developed not only at the municipal but also at the union level. In particular, the Municipal Administration wanted to involve them in the project for the redevelopment and redefinition of the Ex-Station space; - Bangherang Cooperative, which has always seen European projects as a valuable growth opportunity, both for the territory in which it operates and for its staff, in terms of personal and professional development, combining the local and international dimensions.
