Objectives

This project stemmed from the process of writing a Youth Exchange on sustainability in the Euromed region and from the need to address neocolonialism and internalized racism within the climate change movement in Europe. The project encouraged active participation from a diverse group of young people and utilized digital tools to complement physical mobility activities. It was aligned with the YPA's objectives by encouraging critical reflection, sharing virtuous local experiences, and raising awareness of the need for action towards sustainability. The project objectives were: Discuss colonialism, neocolonialism, and their impact on the climate crisis; Explore sustainable practices beyond western contexts; Understand the relationship between social justice and climate justice; Promote the idea that environmental practices should be decolonized; Raise awareness that sustainability requires action; Learn about political institutions at the Euromed level; Gain advocacy skills for creating change in the Euromed context; Advocate for change to relevant stakeholders.
