1. Enhancing the role of youth workers in youth collaborative living projects, as facilitators and mediators between the rules of residences and the demands of young people. 2. To promote the development of organisations' competences in the field of planning and management of European projects, laying the foundations for the construction of an extended network dealing with youth housing and the role of youth workers. 3. To promote the exchange of good practices in the field of youth housing projects between different countries and to build the basis for a cooperation that fosters innovation on a European scale between local and national realities active in the field of housing for the younger generations. 4. To compare, explore and map good practices of social housing for young people in Europe, in particular projects valuable in terms of cohesion, inclusion and social transformation for young people and for the development of transversal skills. 5. To build shared and scalable tools for the development of inclusive youth housing projects to foster the mobility of young people with fewer opportunities in Europe through access to housing in collaborative housing contexts.
The project started from the observation of the change in the housing market in recent years and the impact that the increase in the cost of rents has had on young people's access to housing. The pandemic crisis has highlighted the centrality of the issue of housing and the right to housing, exacerbating the social, cultural, economic as well as generational inequalities that characterise our contemporary world. On the other hand, the focus on collaborative, mutualistic, sustainable and ‘next’ models of living has increased. It is useful to search for replicable and scalable integrated models, but also attentive to local specificities, capable of fostering inclusive, accessible and fluid living for young people. It is important to root the role of socio-educational animators in the processes of mediation and facilitation of the encounter between young people themselves and the needs of the communities hosting the housing structures. MHF aims to be a first step towards the construction of a transnational network of actors working together on the challenges of access to housing for young people in contemporary Europe.
