The project aimed to positively influence inclusive sexual and emotional education at national and European level, fostering the well-being of young people from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities, LGBTQ+ youth, rural residents, and second-generation immigrants. We sought to strengthen the skills, competences, and capacities of youth workers and organisations to deliver high-quality, inclusive educational activities. By creating a network of youth workers, educators, psychologists, and other experts, we aimed to share perspectives and resources, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach. The project set out to develop an innovative, practical training programme to help organisations plan, implement, and evaluate effective education initiatives. We also wanted to produce engaging digital educational content—videos, podcasts, infographics, quizzes —tailored to young people’s needs. Another key goal was to empower young people to act as peer promoters, raising awareness about the importance of sexual and emotional education and inspiring them to contribute actively at local, national, and European levels.
We applied for this project to address the clear need for quality sexual and emotional education for young people, as highlighted by EU research showing its impact on gender equality, prevention of gender-based violence, and overall well-being. Many young people face low self-esteem, confusion about identity, stigma around sexuality, and lack of safe spaces to discuss these topics. The project also addressed the need to provide youth workers and organizations—key actors in young people’s lives—with inclusive, evidence-based resources, practical tools, and professional competences to deliver relevant and sensitive education adapted to diverse backgrounds. By developing a comprehensive and inclusive educational approach, creating engaging activities, and fostering open dialogue, we have enabled both young people and those working with them to access accurate, scientific, and accessible information. This has strengthened the capacity of communities to openly address sexual and emotional health, reduced stigma, and ensured that these essential topics are treated with respect, inclusivity, and professionalism.
