Education is shaped by a range of international, national, social, and economic factors. It continuously adapts to the demands of globalisation and the evolving landscape of international relations. In doing so, education not only contributes to the advancement of the global higher education system but also plays a key role in addressing both domestic and international challenges. The process of internationalisation is closely linked to fostering international cooperation, promoting mobility, and developing intercultural competencies within the academic community. Additionally, the introduction and expansion of study programs delivered in foreign languages are essential aspects of this process. One of the most widely recognised indicators for assessing the level of internationalisation within an institution is the number of participants engaged in mobility programs. Facilitating mobility, ensuring the competitiveness of institutional activities, and promoting the dissemination of best practices are fundamental to achieving the objectives and targets set by higher education institutions. The vision of Utena HEI is to gain recognition both nationally and internationally as a higher education institution that effectively addresses societal needs. This vision is maintained through a steadfast dedication to quality, responsible social partnerships, the promotion of a sustainable regional and national environment, and a strong advocacy for democratic values and tolerance. Utena HEI’s values include quality, academic freedom, the integration of study and research, active international engagement, creativity, cooperation, innovation, democracy, tolerance, and social responsibility. These guiding principles support the institution’s commitment to internationalisation and its broader educational mission. Internationalisation is recognised within both the European Union and national policy frameworks as a crucial driver for the advancement of higher education institutions and the broader society. These frameworks underscore the importance of international collaboration and the development of intercultural skills for institutional growth and societal progress. The Erasmus+ project directly supports the priorities of Utena HEI by enhancing participants’ language proficiency, cultural awareness, professional networks, and sense of European identity. These outcomes are aligned with the College’s strategic objectives and contribute to the achievement of wider educational goals. Through Erasmus+ initiatives, the institution is able to strengthen international cooperation, continuously improve and adapt the educational and social environment to support internationalisation activities, and positively impact the quality of studies. Internationalisation leads to the updating of study subject content, the design of new subjects, and the development of competencies within the academic community. The exchange of experiences fosters institutional improvement, cultivates a multicultural and welcoming environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds, and elevates the overall quality of study. As a result, the visibility of the institution and the country increases, and strategic partnerships are further strengthened.
