Vilnius University took into account the long-term strategic objectives outlined in its strategic plan when carrying out this Erasmus+ project. Participation in the Erasmus+ programme is viewed as a key strategic tool for fostering partnerships, enhancing the quality of academic activities, and strengthening service infrastructures, all of which contribute to the university’s broader goal of increasing internationalisation across all areas of its operations. The university welcomes collaboration with any higher education institution that shares a comparable profile or is involved in cross-sectoral cooperation where the academic or research interests of staff and students align. Guiding principles for the university's overall strategy and Erasmus+ participation included core values such as societal impact, democracy, respect for diversity and human rights, commitment to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, academic freedom, and a strong focus on equity and inclusion. The university has made a concerted effort to engage all members of its community, including students and staff, in the diverse opportunities provided through the Erasmus+ programme. The primary goals of the project were: To increase the number of mobile participants (both students and staff); To promote new forms of mobility (e.g., short-term mobility, participation in Blended Intensive Programmes, etc.); To encourage green travel and ensure greater participation from individuals with fewer opportunities; To streamline and ensure transparency in the organisation of mobility activities; To guarantee the full recognition of study periods abroad; To maintain a balanced exchange of incoming and outgoing participants, aligned with the needs of different faculties and study programmes; To enhance the quality of services and teaching activities.
