Objectives

Project aimed to support social workers enhancing their intercultural communication skills and competences. Project objectives: 1. to develop a high-quality methodology tailored to target group needs 2. to increase intercultural communication skills and competences for social workers in provision of assistance to forced migrants 3. to disseminate project results, informing the target groups about the new opportunities created to develop their intercultural communication competencies and skills

Background

The project was initiated to address the urgent need for social workers to develop intercultural competencies when assisting forced migrants and refugees. With migration becoming a regular social challenge, Lithuania and Cyprus are facing increasing demands for targeted refugee support. However, research and surveys have shown that social workers often lack the necessary preparation to provide culturally sensitive services. The JSSC, SPI (LT) and Cypriot project partners (KIBOTOS) identified this gap through studies and direct experience. By equipping social workers with essential skills, the project enhances the quality of refugee support, ensuring effective adaptation and integration into host societies.
