Objectives

The objectives of the Project were established and achieved: 1. to strengthen preschool teachers' methodological skills and to expand the space of learning outside the classroom by making a set of online maps "STEAM on foot." 2. to encourage every child's decision-making skills and the active participation of children with special needs in STEM activities by creating a Practical Handbook of STEAM maps and itineraries (activities). 3. to increase multicultural awareness and the European dimension in partners' schools by enhancing future collaboration among the project partners.

Background

The preliminary research (2022) conducted in 4 project partner schools revealed that the children had difficulties acquiring STEAM skills and teachers weren't capable of including "learning by doing", experimental approaches to everyday educational processes. Moreover, the distinction between disciplines traditionally seen as “creative” like the arts or music, and STEM disciplines traditionally seen as more rigid or logical—mathematical were revealed. The project sought to improve and enhance the educational achievements of preschoolers by improving the STEAM and experiential education approach, creating conditions for teachers to apply STEAM approaches in outdoor education, promoting learning outside the classroom, and making every child, according to their abilities and age, be involved in the decision-making and active learning process.
