With our project we encouraged young people to raise their awareness on the topic of sustainability, providing knowledge and skills to limit the emissions of CO2 in everyday life. It was important to us to take an active part in creating a conscious and aware society in which all citizens understand the importance of not polluting the planet. Ecological issues are very important to us, especially if we can learn how to reduce the issues and teach young people to do the same. As the population increases, so does the pollution of the earth; moreover, not everyone is aware that with small precautions we can make a difference on the consumption of CO2. Therefore, during the project “Be the change” we learned how to raise awareness and to sensitise the young people for a better future, just paying more attention to what we are doing every day. The objectives of this project were: -Encourage young people to be interested in environmental challenges; -Using non-formal approaches to encourage critical thinking; -Create an aware society through shared and conscious activities; The main learning tool for the participants was the participation in a youth exchange that aimed to sensitise people through an eco friendly approach. We used non-formal educational methods during the group process and young people were encouraged to take challenges, to experience and try new activities in nature and evaluate their experience in the group. During the project the participants attend lectures about CO2 emission and carbon footprint, they attend workshop of landscape design, thanks to an architect that guided them from the planning till the realisation of the landscape plan. Moreover, during the process young people learned to get feedback from other participants and use non-violent communication in the group.
