Through this project we wanted to showcase the benefits of music and mindfulness. Both music and meditation can be powerful tools for supporting mental health and building community, but they operate in different ways and can serve different purposes. In Lithuania, there is a long tradition of community singing, which is a powerful way to bring people together and create a sense of connection and belonging. Singing can also have therapeutic benefits, as it can help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and promote relaxation. Meditation, on the other hand, is a practice that involves training the mind to focus on the present moment and cultivate a sense of calm and inner peace which has benefits for mental health and well being as well. Our project had been closely aligned with the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme and this specific key action, which had sought to promote youth empowerment, intercultural dialogue, and active citizenship. By using music to promote mental health and wellbeing, we had hoped to encourage young people to prioritise their mental health and to become more engaged in their communities. We had also aimed to promote intercultural dialogue and respect for cultural diversity by bringing together participants from different countries and cultural backgrounds. Through this project, we had aimed to address the urgent need for greater awareness and action regarding mental health and wellbeing among young people in Europe. Music was a powerful tool during this project for inspiring positive change and promoting mental wellness, and participants had created their own music, melodies and songs as part of this project. Ultimately, through this project we inspired young people to prioritise their mental health and to use their musical talents to make a positive impact on themselves and their communities.
