Objectives

“The power of a Good Trainer” was a training course implemented by 5 European partners: L’ecole des Valeurs, Scoala de Valori Association, En Root, Associazione Culturale Bubburriga and Asociacija Tavo Europa. Our project started from the common wish that a couple of our youth workers shared: to provide high-quality, innovative and engaging sessions for the young people they collaborate with. Based on analysing these youth workers’ needs, we created a course that taught them how to be better trainers, how to improve their facilitation skills and how to use non-formal education as the base for evolving professionally. Looking back, we are proud that we achieved the initial objectives we set for the training: Obj 1: Throughout the lifetime of the project, the 25 youth workers improved their basic knowledge and application of training principles, including the training cycle, learning styles, stages of experiential learning, visualisation tools and group dynamics. Obj 2: By the end of the 10 months, the 25 participants became able to design and create effective professional questionnaires to assess the training needs of young people. Obj 3: Over the 10-month project timeline, the 25 youth workers showed improvement in the following essential skills for quality training: public speaking, group coordination, non-formal education methods, debriefing, and motivating learners. Obj 4: By the end of the project, the youth workers had demonstrated an increase in their self-assessed confidence levels as trainers, together with an enhanced motivation to create and deliver workshops for the young people they worked with.
