Objectives

Education and educational processes are variables that are subject to changes in terms of content and the approach of how this content is conveyed to the target audience. In the training of officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and in ensuring the respective educational process, a fundamental role which in turn also determines the quality of educational content is devoted to the continuous integration of sectoral developments. To ensure sustainable, consistent, and internationally recognized professional training for border guards, as well as to carry out the internationalization tasks of the State Border Guard College, the college staff is actively involved in the implementation of Erasmus+ programme for staff mobility. The State Border Guard College developing Erasmus+ programme staff mobility application expected that the implementation of Erasmus+ staff mobility to one of foreign higher education institutions offering similar study programmes in Lithuania, Estonia, Poland or Romania would allow mobility participants, in accordance with a carefully planned mobility programme, develop operationally relevant skills and knowledge, adopt examples of good practices, share experience on issues concerning the training of law enforcement officials (areas related to hybrid threats, national defense system and institutional cooperation mechanisms, innovations in information technologies and technical solutions, recruitment of law enforcement officials, topicalities in ensuring the study process and institutional research activities). Lectures given to the students of foreign law enforcement agencies convey important operational expertise embedding national approach, strategies and operational mechanisms for performing service-related tasks, which in the context of the EU member states are similar. As a rule, Erasmus + mobility participants establish professional and personal contacts, moreover they improve communication skills in English, which is the most commonly used (communication) language in the EU. Taking into account that several new lecturers and administrative staff members have joined the service and start working at the State Border Guard College recently, it was expected that staff who had not previously taken advantage of Erasmus+ programme, would apply for Erasmus+ mobilities within this project.
