By implementing the Erasmus+ programme, the Art Academy of Latvia pursues the key objectives of its internationalisation strategy, thereby strengthening its position as a competitive and internationally recognised European higher education institution in art and design. The Academy’s priorities and goals are aimed at fostering balanced interdisciplinary cooperation across various fields of art and design, ensuring a competitive academic and creative environment, developing a strong network of international partnerships, and promoting diverse interdisciplinary exchange within the European Higher Education Area. Through the long-term and successful implementation of the Erasmus+ programme, the Art Academy of Latvia has built a wide network of cooperation with many leading European art and design schools. This serves as a vital foundation for the exchange of experience and for enhancing the overall quality of studies. Currently, the Academy has Erasmus+ agreements with more than 170 partner institutions in 31 countries. The programme has provided valuable opportunities for students, academic and administrative staff, while also contributing to the internationalisation of the Academy by attracting incoming students and guest lecturers from abroad. Visiting lecturers from various art and design fields and specialisations are actively involved in the teaching process, enriching the study environment. Within the framework of this project, the Academy has also implemented three Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP), which have promoted innovative collaboration and the development of interdisciplinary approaches, and have further strengthened cooperation in the respective disciplines with other European art and design partner institutions.
