Objectives

During the implementation of the project, Riga Technical University Liepaja Marine College (hereinafter – RTU LMC) established and strengthened cooperation with higher education institutions of the Erasmus+ member states in Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria and Netherlands, and continued the stable cooperation established in the previous project with the company in Estonia (BALTCREW AGENCY OÜ, Gota Ship management), in Lithuania (Vilniaus Gedimino Technikos Universitetas, Lithuanian Maritime Academy), in Romania (Academia Navala Mircea Cel Batran), in Bulgaria (Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy). Gained new experience in staff training at a social professional course provider in Netherlands (Wartsila Voyage OY). In total, from the planned 16 mobilities, 22 mobilities have been implemented in the project: • 11 student mobility student placements in Lithuania; • 4 student mobility for traineeships in Estonia; • 4 staff training mobilities to the Netherlands and Bulgaria; • 3 staff teaching mobility to Lithuania and Romania. As a result of the implementation of the project, we wanted to promote the international exchange and mobility of RTU LMC students and staff for education and training purposes, enhancing the degree of internationalization of the educational institution and the attractiveness and quality of the content. Cooperation with higher education institutions in Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria and Romania, as well as with the social partners in Netherlands and Estonia, was strengthened and expanded, promoting the international and local popularity of all institutions involved. By implementing the project and organizing mobilities helped to increase the overall interest in the Erasmus+ program and its activities among students and staff, especially in terms of student placements, as the project continued its long-standing cooperation with an agency in Estonia, which provided good traineeship for students on tankers. Students and staff see and hear good traineeship stories from course members or colleagues, so they have also shown interest in going on mobility, gaining knowledge and experience abroad. It helps to promote the overall global thinking of the institution. RTU LMC continues to be actively involved in the Erasmus+ program to meet the growing interest in participating in Erasmus+ activities. All the students and staff involved gave very good feedback on their mobility. According to the participants, participation in mobilities contributed greatly to their professional career (acquired new professional knowledge, improved job skills) and personal development (increased independence, improved language skills, changed outlook on life, understanding of different cultures, etc.).
