Objectives

The main objective of the mobility project was to provide students and staff of Riga Technical University (RTU) with the opportunity to gain new academic and professional knowledge and skills in an international environment. The project also aimed to enrich participants' personal experience, intercultural understanding, and foreign language skills. Experience gained by participants was integrated into the RTU study process. This promoted the university's internationalization strategy, improved the implementation of Erasmus+ Higher Education Charter principles, and strengthened cooperation with international partners. We wanted to give special attention to partnerships, especially within the European University of Technology+ (EUT+) consortium. We also considered it an important project goal to expand cooperation with partners outside the European Union, promoting the opportunities offered by International Credit Mobility and creating successful synergies with Erasmus+ KA171 projects. When implementing the project activities, we aimed to consider the horizontal priorities of Erasmus+. This included implementing inclusive education principles and motivating students with different social statuses and special needs to participate in mobility. We also aimed to improve the use of digital tools and promote understanding of a democratic society. Following the inclusive education principle, we wanted to provide students from Ukrainian universities the chance to undertake exchange studies and internships at RTU. We also wanted to offer Ukrainian teaching staff the opportunity to visit RTU for teaching and training. We were more active in offering extra funding to students eligible for lower opportunities allowances. It was important to determine the categories of students who would receive the top-up funding. We also considered the procedure for granting the top-ups, introduced new internal procedures, and informed potential beneficiaries about additional funding. One of the project's goals was to increase the involvement of RTU staff in developing Blended Intensive Programmes and to promote short-term mobility opportunities among RTU students. Erasmus+ short-term mobility options became more diverse thanks to the blended format. Therefore, it is necessary to inform RTU students more thoroughly about these opportunities, such as BIP programs organized by partners and blended study or traineeship mobility. Based on the positive experience of previous projects and the interest shown by colleagues at RTU, three BIP programs were planned as part of the project.
