Objectives

The Development Strategy of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) for 2023–2027 defines LBTU as a modern, nationally and internationally recognised research university. One of its priorities is “Promoting international cooperation in areas of strategic specialisation and the internationalisation of education.” The “Internationalisation Policy” sets out the goal of international cooperation: “To ensure internationally competitive study and research processes at the University by attracting resources available in the higher education area for the implementation of the University’s strategic tasks, based on international recognition, a high-quality study offer and innovative research, and relations with foreign institutions built on mutual interest and benefit.” It calls for the promotion of study programmes in the international environment, the use of opportunities offered by the European Universities Initiative, and the promotion of international mobility for students and academic staff. One of the action priorities is the implementation of Erasmus+ programme mobilities with Erasmus+ programme and partner countries. The aim of participating in the Erasmus+ mobility project was to achieve the quantitative targets set in the internationalisation strategy, improve the quality of mobility, gain experience at partner country higher education institutions and organisations, and integrate new academic and professional experience into the University’s work. The Erasmus+ programme has played, and continues to play, a leading role in the internationalisation of the University’s study process. It has contributed to the improvement of study quality and scientific development, and has enhanced the professional knowledge, foreign language skills, and communication abilities of students and academic staff.
