Objectives

The conceptual framework and main objective of the granted Erasmus+ accredited project (2023–2025) was to promote the international growth, modernization, and quality of the study process of Riga Building College (hereinafter — the College), aligning it with the European Union initiative for the European Education Area, the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education, the education development guidelines of the Republic of Latvia for 2021–2027, and Riga Building College’s operational and development strategy for 2021–2027, as well as its internationalization policy. In quantitative terms, the College’s objective was to maintain the number of outgoing students for studies or traineeships at no less than 2% of the total number enrolled in state-funded programmes, with particular attention paid to the inclusion of first-time mobility participants. It was also planned to ensure intensive and high-quality development of academic staff and personnel, reaching teaching mobility participation of no less than 50% of academic staff and professional development mobility of no less than 20% of all staff, while also purposefully engaging new participants in these groups. Qualitatively, the project was managed with the aim of ensuring a high-quality study process based on modernization and sustainable development. With regard to students, the main principle was full international recognition of the study period (ECTS allocation), as well as strong support for reintegration upon return. Another key benefit for students was their personal growth: the ability to independently organize life and studies in a foreign culture, language, and social environment, thus complementing their acquired academic knowledge and professional skills with critically important life competences. The objective of staff mobility was to directly enhance the competences of academic and administrative staff in order to transfer the acquired international experience and best practices to the College, strengthening its internationalization policy. The achievement of these goals was implemented through direct support of the main priorities of the Erasmus+ programme, namely the promotion of digitalization in educational and administrative processes, as well as the encouragement of inclusion and diversity among mobility participants. Purposeful efforts were also made to ensure the long-term positive impact of mobility activities, not only within the framework of this specific project, thereby enhancing the College’s image as an internationally recognized and competitive educational institution.
