Objectives

In this period of our Accreditation we were focusing on following aims: Quality environmental education; and an international network of informal youth organisations that uses environmental education principles in its daily work with young people. And indirectly, we also worked on the other two accreditation objectives: Youngster - an ambassador for sustainable action; and Create Youth Work Yourself at Radi Vidi Pats - to develop a strategic, purposefully planned set of activities in youth work both in form and content. The more specific objective of the first activity, a seminar for youth workers, was to equip youth workers with competencies to encourage youngsters to become changemakers and climate activists. The objective of the second activity, youth exchange, was to raise environmental and climate awareness and action in the field of youth through the active participation of the young people, encouraging them to reconnect with nature and to make responsible everyday choices. With this accreditation, we wanted to help youth organizations understand more about climate and environmental issues. We also explored different ways to motivate young people to become activists and speak up for a better and safer future. The focus was on action, methods of involvement, and helping young people participate. Part of this was also reconnecting with nature through an eco-centric approach. We used non-formal education methods and peer-to-peer approaches, like learning through experience, group activities, and workshops. These methods encourage critical thinking, creativity, and personal responsibility, so young people can learn by doing and actively participate in their communities. Activities like role-playing, simulations, and group work helped create a space where participants could learn new skills, build confidence, and share ideas with each other. This way, young people can feel more empowered and ready to act for the environment and address climate change issues more effectively.
