Objectives

The E-YOUTH project aimed to make a lasting impact on youth workers, organizations, and young people across Europe. Key objectives included raising the capacity of youth organizations to promote entrepreneurial and digital skills, which we achieved by equipping youth organizations with tools to meet digital demands. The project also advanced non-formal learning activities, especially for young people with fewer opportunities, through a media literacy curriculum and digital skills training. We supported youth work quality and recognition in Erasmus+ associated countries, enhancing youth worker professional development and creating a toolkit of practical learning methods. Additionally, E-YOUTH developed and tested non-formal learning mobility schemes, fostering international exchanges for youth workers. Aligning with the EU Youth Strategy (2019-2027), we promoted inclusive youth work, digital literacy, and youth empowerment. These efforts met the E-YOUTH project’s objectives, significantly strengthening youth work and expanding opportunities for young people.

Background

We applied for the E-YOUTH project to enhance the socio-professional development of youth workers across Europe. Youth workers play a critical role in youth development but often lack access to modern tools and methods, especially in digital literacy and media awareness. According to the European Commission (2020), 53% of youth workers feel undertrained to meet digital demands. This highlights a need for interventions to equip them for evolving youth needs. In collaboration with ARCUS (Italy), Pi Youth Association (Turkey), and EPEKA (Slovenia), E-YOUTH aims to fill these gaps by providing a media literacy curriculum, digital skills training, and practical learning experiences to enhance communication, leadership, and teamwork. A study by the European Youth Forum (2018) also found 48% of youth workers needing more digital competency training. E-YOUTH addresses this by delivering relevant training tailored to regional and European needs. By empowering youth workers with targeted tools, E-YOUTH strengthens their capacity to engage effectively with young people in a digital world.
