Objectives

The InCultuRe project aimed to promote social inclusion and diversity by fostering social innovation and entrepreneurship in cross-cultural and cross-religious contexts through Adult Community Education. The first objective was to improve outreach to adults facing socio-economic difficulties or discrimination and to provide them with opportunities for active community and economic participation. The second was to support adult and community teachers and educators with professional tools and methods to foster social innovation and entrepreneurship. Another key objective was to apply the ACE approach to encourage dialogue, peer learning and collaboration between people of different cultural and religious backgrounds. The project also aimed to design, test and apply new methodologies and ICT-based tools for creating online courses and mobile learning tailored to the needs of educators and learners. Overall, the project sought to equip adults with competences for intercultural and interreligious dialogue and to empower educators to integrate innovative practices that build more inclusive and resilient communities at local, national and European level.

Background

The InCultuRe project was created to respond to the urgent need for intercultural and interreligious dialogue to strengthen social inclusion, equality, cohesion and peace. Globalisation and migration brought communities closer together but also led to exclusion, inequality and tensions. Adult Community Education (ACE) was identified as a strong tool because it offers learning opportunities that empower adults to participate in society and the economy. The project aimed to support adult and community teachers and educators to gain skills and tools for promoting social innovation and entrepreneurship in multicultural and multireligious contexts. Many adult learners face disadvantages or lack access to traditional learning, and they need opportunities to build basic competences, move into further learning, join community life and improve employability. The partnership addressed these needs by fostering openness, empathy and respect and by equipping adults with knowledge and digital competences to collaborate and innovate across cultures and religions, building stronger and more resilient communities at local and European level.
