Objectives

The "Be Healthy - Be Happy" project aimed to promote healthy lifestyles among young people through two stages of activities which took place in Georgia and Malta. It was part of the Erasmus+ program, focusing on youth exchanges to enhance participants' knowledge and practices regarding health and wellness. An annual world survey shows that almost a quarter of people consider themselves unhealthy due to poor lifestyle choices, including bad eating habits, lack of physical activity, and high-stress levels. This project addressed these critical issues by educating youth on the importance of a healthy lifestyle, thereby aiming to reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases linked to unhealthy living. With this project, we fostered awareness and encouraged healthy habits, the project aimed to improve the quality of life for participants and their communities. The objectives of our projects were: To educate young people about the importance of healthy eating habits and regular physical activity. For this, the participants gained an understanding of how a balanced diet and consistent exercise can improve their overall well-being. To increase awareness about the negative consequences of unhealthy lifestyle choices and how they contribute to chronic diseases. The project successfully highlighted the importance of preventive health measures, which participants shared with their communities. To promote cultural diversity through the exchange of traditional healthy recipes and sports. The creation of a cookbook featuring healthy recipes from six different countries and the organization of traditional sports games fostered cultural appreciation and understanding among participants. To equip young people with new skills and knowledge to advocate for healthy lifestyles. Participants enhanced their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, which they can apply in various aspects of their lives. The first stage was in Kobuleti, Georgia. The main result was - Creation of the “Be Healthy – Be Happy” cookbook. Youth participants from Malta, Georgia, Armenia, Ireland, Slovenia, and Greece collaborated to compile a cookbook of healthy recipes using traditional cuisine. This activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures. The second stage was in Marsaxlokk, Malta. The main result was - Organization of a sports competition featuring traditional games. The sports competition promoted physical activity and highlighted the positive outcomes of engaging in traditional sports. Participants learned about the physical, emotional, and social benefits of these activities, which are crucial for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We have gathered the information from partners about what was their expectation from the project. Proutist Universal Malta (Malta): "We aimed to encourage our youth to adopt healthier lifestyles and to bring back the importance of traditional practices for maintaining good health. We saw that the participants developed a deeper understanding of healthy eating and physical activity, which they will promote within their communities.” Youth Center of Georgia (Georgia): “Our objective was to educate young people on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and to promote cultural exchange through traditional recipes and sports. The participants gained valuable knowledge about healthy living. “ Creative Youth (Armenia): We wanted to inspire our youth to lead healthier lives and to appreciate the value of traditional foods and games in maintaining health. We can say that our participants learned to integrate healthy habits into their daily lives and shared these practices with their peers. Love and Care for People (Ireland): We discussed the priorities for our targaet group and we were focused to raise awareness about the consequences of unhealthy lifestyle choices and to provide tools for better health management. DRUŠTVO TABORNIKOV ROD ZELENA ROGLA ZREČE (Slovenia): There is a need to promote a balanced lifestyle through education on healthy eating and active living, using traditional cultural practices. During the project the participants understand the concept of a balanced lifestyle and are motivated to spread this knowledge. Patras Youth Club (Greece): As we are new to work with this target group, after a short survey we saw the importance of physical activity and healthy eating, for youth to see the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. To report and write the result of the project, each organization named one person (project manager), and we as a team are creating the report, this synergy gives us the possibility to write the report from each organizations perspective and to involve the feedback from each national team.
