We applied for this project to address several critical needs identified through our studies and initiatives. The success of volunteer projects heavily depended on the support provided to volunteers before, during, and after their activities. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the necessity for even greater support during project implementation. Our organization and its partners recognized that well-prepared organizational staff and mentors were essential for the success of volunteering projects. Coordinators, supervisors, and mentors, being the main figures responsible for these projects, required continuous training and updates on their knowledge. Therefore, we aimed to offer new knowledge and increase the capacity of organizations working with volunteers. The project was designed to provide training for youth workers with little or no experience in volunteering and the European Solidarity Corps program. Additionally, it sought to create a network among participating organizations for future joint volunteering projects. Our key objectives were: - Increase understanding of the history, principles, and philosophy of volunteering, and identify opportunities for successful projects at local, national, and international levels. - Provide relevant information on emerging trends in volunteer project implementation, basic documentation, and define key stakeholders’ rights, responsibilities, and roles. - Equip participants with knowledge of the overall volunteer project management process, including strategies for dealing with conflicting and unpredictable situations. - Recognize the critical roles of coordinators, mentors, and supervisors, and appreciate the importance of the mentor’s role in the overall process. - Identify and master approaches to provide additional support for volunteers in challenging situations. - Facilitate the exchange of successful practices from participating countries while working with volunteers. - Establish long-term partnerships among participating organizations, not only in volunteering but also in broader youth activities. - Develop a network among participating organizations, mentors, and supervisors to support future joint projects.
