Objectives

The project aimed to strengthen green skills in the tourism sector by creating and promoting the profile of the “ConsumeLess Advisor” as a new key actor supporting sustainable transition. Specifically, the objectives were to: build the competences of partners and adult learners in sustainable tourism advisory; develop accessible and practical training materials, including a MOOC and handbook; support SMEs in implementing simple, cost-effective sustainability measures; and foster a transnational advisory community focused on behavioural change and resource efficiency. The project also aimed to increase awareness among tourism stakeholders, promoting responsible practices through dissemination and the development of practical tools. Overall, the objective was to bridge the gap between sustainability ambitions and practical implementation at local level.

Background

The WITH4LESS project was developed in response to the increasing need to support the green transition within the tourism sector, particularly among micro and small enterprises that often lack the technical expertise and financial capacity to implement sustainability measures. The project addressed the gap between sustainability policies and practical, accessible implementation at local level. While environmental standards and green certifications exist, many SMEs struggle to translate them into simple, actionable steps. In addition, there was a lack of structured training pathways for professionals who could guide businesses in this transition. The project therefore responded to the need for capacity building in sustainable tourism advisory, promoting low-cost, behaviour-oriented solutions that can be applied immediately and collectively generate environmental, economic and marketing benefits.
