With its broad range of life sciences education from vocational to higher educational level (EQF 1 to EQF 7), Aeres Group is committed to educating professionals who can thrive in an interconnected, international world of work. Internationalization is not a separate agenda item; it is deeply embedded in our educational vision and organisational DNA. Erasmus+ KA131 has remained a cornerstone in realising this ambition. The project seeks to broaden the international outlook of students and staff in EQF - level 5 to 7 study programmes, foster educational innovation through European partnerships, and improve the quality and inclusiveness of our programmes. A key achievement of the project was the successful organisation and participation in several Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs). These short, blended formats, which combine virtual collaboration with physical mobility, reflect Aeres UAS’s strategic focus on innovation and digital transformation in education. BIPs lower participation barriers, particularly for students who may face financial or academic constraints. Moreover, the collaborative, interdisciplinary nature of BIPs enhances students’ intercultural competence and critical thinking, aligning with our institutional mission to educate adaptive, globally engaged professionals. Beyond student impact, KA131 contributed to the professional development of our academic and support staff. Staff mobility was not only quantitatively significant but qualitatively meaningful. Staff engaged in guest lecturing, participated in BIPs, and attended training events that facilitated knowledge exchange and capacity building. Especially the BIPs are attractive to staff and students who otherwise would be limited to work in an international context. These activities align with our strategic aim to invest in people and support lifelong learning. The project also strengthened our European partnerships, which are essential to the internationalisation strategy of Aeres. Aeres believes that working with European partners strengthens the European awareness among our staff and students. Joint European education and research enables us to contribute to a stronger Europe. The partnerships facilitate co-creation of educational content, joint research initiatives, and mobility flows in both directions. The project deepened cooperation with institutions that share our commitment to sustainability, food security, biodiversity, and the circular economy. In this way, the project supported the embedding of sustainability and environmental awareness in our educational practices. The KA131 has served as a stepping stone for other forms of cooperation, within Erasmus and beyond. One example of this is a collaboration with a French and German partner in which we yearly host French students for one semester in either the German or the Dutch classrooms. Through exposure to diverse academic systems and cultural perspectives, participants developed democratic competences and civic responsibility. These experiences are crucial for educating future green change – makers, in line with the mission of Aeres. The project outcomes also connect with our three strategic pillars: ‘Learning for the future’, ‘Connecting with the professional field’, and ‘Global engagement’. Mobility and international collaboration create rich learning contexts where students and staff prepare for emerging global challenges. Through Erasmus+, Aeres has been able to internationalise the curriculum, support staff development, and make mobility more inclusive and strategically anchored. Looking ahead, the lessons learned - particularly regarding the scalability of BIPs and the evolving mobility needs of staff and students - will be used to further align future Erasmus+ activities with institutional priorities. These insights also inform our ongoing efforts to embed digital and green competences into all aspects of our education.
