Objectives

Our mission is to empower young professionals as they shape a better future. We achieve this by integrating both specialized and interdisciplinary learning and research. Through our learning communities, students, industry partners, educators, and researchers collaborate on real-world challenges, merging education, applied research, and societal impact. Together with our students and experts, we actively seek partnerships with leading international companies. We are committed to delivering high-quality education, research, and innovation in collaboration with alumni, industry, and global partners. We encourage our students to think creatively and engage beyond their own disciplines. We equip them to be critical, pragmatic thinkers, prepared to tackle today’s challenges and those of a sustainable future. In our multidisciplinary learning communities, we foster an entrepreneurial spirit and support the exploration of new opportunities. Our alumni thrive in established companies and as successful entrepreneurs around the world. An open, inclusive, and cross-cultural mindset strengthens our diverse international community. Students, faculty, and staff work together in a respectful, positive, and solution-focused environment. On 5 March 2024, the Executive Board approved the strategic document ‘BUas+ Strategy 2022-2025 - The international perspective’. Amidst national discussions on international student recruitment, BUas reaffirms its strong international institutional profile and outlines specific priorities. In a nutshell: 🌐 BUas remains devoted to fostering students' crucial international and intercultural skills for success in a global career. This commitment extends beyond mobility, encompassing on-campus global activities, and reflecting our values of sustainability, diversity, and inclusion. 🌐 BUas strengthens its support to international students and staff with initiatives including preparing them for active participation in Dutch society, fostering networks within BUas, and prioritising overall well-being. 🌐 BUas heeds the European call for action by deepening connections with other European institutions. This involves a heightened European focus on global engagement in the coming years. What's next: to translate these points into action within our academies, the Executive Board has established an Internationalisation steering group, chaired by Perry Hobson, set to operationalise BUas' international strategy into clear guidelines for the academies.
